Issue
We have had a couple of customers complain of the DC fans with wall controller (Vanuatu or Lumio Aeris) having their fan speed ramping up and down. They have also explained this as surging or unstable speed. It also can make a "Boing" sound. The have also called it a ticking sound of the motor or the motor stopping and starting briefly.
Cause
These issues were caused by an AC Fan speed capacitor being used on the Vanuatu instead of the supplied wall controller. The Vanuatu is a DC fan and the supplied wall controller is a special device to signal to the fan's receiver over the mains wiring to change it's speed.
Solution
When faced with this issue, get the installer to be sure they are using the supplied wall controller. They can reuse an existing 3 Speed Rotary mech, but it must use our supplied controller and be wired the same.
