IP65 and IP66 outdoor floodlights use a weatherproof cable gland to resist water ingress and damage to the product.
Incorrect routing of the cable can result in water running towards the gland for extended periods during heavy rain, creating conditions the gland is not rated to handle and potentially resulting in water ingress.
When installing the floodlight, always ensure there is enough slack to create at least 2cm of cable drop below the gland. This directs water away from the gland and the product.
