The NCC provides two pathways to demonstrate compliance with its fire resistance requirements. The first is the Deemed-to-Satisfy (DtS) pathway, where the installation follows the prescriptive rules exactly — using tested systems, installed precisely as they were tested, with no deviations beyond the permissible variations in the test report. The second is a Performance Solution, where a fire safety engineer designs an alternative approach and demonstrates that it meets the NCC’s performance requirements through engineering analysis, fire modelling, or other accepted methods.
The AT9012 FR’s AS 1530.4 test report and evidence of suitability are designed to support the DtS pathway.
If the site ceiling construction matches (or falls within the permissible variations of) the tested assembly, the product’s documentation provides the evidence needed for DtS compliance.
Where the site ceiling does not match a tested configuration — for example, a different plasterboard system or untested joist type, — the DtS pathway is not available. In this situation, a fire safety engineer may develop a Performance Solution that references the AT9012 FR’s fire test data as part of a broader engineering assessment. However, a Performance Solution is a project-specific engineering exercise that requires acceptance by the relevant building surveyor or building authority.
It is beyond the scope of Evolt Pty Ltd’s standard product documentation, and Evolt Pty Ltd does not warrant the product’s performance in untested configurations.
If you are unsure which compliance pathway applies to your project, consult your building certifier or fire safety engineer before specifying or purchasing the product.
